Memorial Hospital named most supportive organ and tissue hospital
Memorial Hospital has been named the most supportive organ and tissue hospital for the 2020 year by the Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency.
Memorial received awards for its continued participation in the Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency Hospitals for Hope campaign.
Also, the hospital received recognition from the U.S. Department of Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration for its participation in the Workplace Partnership for Life campaign.
Several members were nominated for a SPERO Award, recognizing community and hospital partners that make organ, eye, and tissue donation a reality for those in need of life-saving and healing transplants. Cardiac and Critical Care Services Director Holly Rodriguez said, “Every year there are challenges with people that are waiting on transplant lists from heart, lungs, kidneys, pancreas. So, it is extremely important that we promote and encourage organ donation.”
Memorial provided the second-highest number of organ donors and organ transplants since 2003.
