Memorial Hospital delivering gifts to local nursing centers

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Diamondhead.

Memorial Hospital reached out to local nursing homes and the Armed Forces Retirement Home to ask what their needs were along with items on their wish lists.

Once they received the lists, the items were written out and placed on an ornament.

This gave the hospital employees a chance to adopt more than 350 residents.

Woodland Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center received more than 100 gifts and the residents were beside themselves. Program Coordinator Sharon Huber said, “I love being able to come to the nursing home and see them smile. Visiting my grandmother and my great grandmother in nursing homes, I know how much they enjoy that human contact. So, just being able to go up and talk to them and hold their hand. It’s an amazing feeling to me.”

Santa was also thrilled to be a part of the fun.
