MEMA, FEMA open Disaster Recovery Center in Hancock County

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and FEMA have opened a Disaster Recovery Center in Hancock County to help survivors affected by the April 8-11, severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding.

The center is located at the Hancock County Tax Collector’s Office & Storm Preparedness Center  in the Kiln. Residents should look for the FEMA and MEMA signage at 18335 Highway 603, Kiln, MS 39556.

Recovery centers also are open in Hinds, Humphreys, Madison, Neshoba and Scott counties.

The Hancock County center is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

To apply for assistance, you must bring the following:

  • Insurance Information
  • Damage Information
  • Financial Information
  • Contact Information
  • Direct Deposit Information

It is not necessary to visit a center to apply for assistance. Survivors can apply for FEMA assistance by going online to DisasterAssistance.gov, downloading the FEMA mobile app or calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362.
