Meet with local officers at ‘Police in the Park’

‘Police in the Park’ hopes to strengthen trust between police and the Gulfport community this Saturday.

Making an effort to build relationships within the community they serve, the Gulfport Police Department is partnering with local organizations to host an outdoor fun day.

Partnering with Extend a Hand, Help a Friend, Morning Star Baptist Church, Gulfport Leisure Services and the Boys and Girls Club of America, GPD is working to improve community outreach.

At the Goldin Sports Complex from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday, August 14th, enjoy entertainment for kids, a live DJ, hotdogs, and lemonade and conversations with local law enforcement officers. Gulfport Police Department Chief Chris Ryle said, “It’s a community police building event to just build that bridge between our community and the police to just hopefully they have more trust in the police and also to talk about gun violence that is going on in our city. We think it’s just a great way for our community outreach for the Gulfport Police Department.”

During the event, get to know local officers in your neighborhood and ask them questions about your concerns and solutions.
