Meet and Greet with penguins at the Mississippi Aquarium

Penguin Meet and Greet Weekend is just around the corner.

On Saturday and Sunday, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., African penguins will make a public appearance inside the ‘Changing Tides’ exhibit at the Mississippi Aquarium.

An animal care specialist will be available to answer any questions and those attending the meet and greet will have the opportunity to take a photo with these penguins.

The event is free with general admission. Animal Care Specialist Chelsea Rim says the penguins are right at home here on the Gulf Coast. “So African Penguins are the only penguin species of the 18 penguin species found in Africa. So, they are totally used to these warmer temperatures that we have here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We like to call them beach bums, because they are used to the warmer weather.”
