MDOT urges preparedness on Hurricane Katrina’s 21st anniversary

On the 21st anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the Mississippi Department of Transportation urges residents to have a preparedness plan in place, especially during peak hurricane season.

Saturday marks the anniversary, MDOT shares a documentary on the impacts of the storm and how the agency restored the roadways in the aftermath.

With the documentary, MDOT is also reminding residents to prepare an evacuation route. Free resources are offered in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

The evacuation guide has info such as those routes and tips, public broadcasting radio coverage areas, and contact information for agencies in Mississippi and surrounding states.
