MDOT recognizes Work Zone Awareness Week
Monday kicked off Work Zone Awareness Week here in Mississippi.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation is reminding drivers all week long that safe actions save lives, especially in construction zones where crews work just feet away from moving traffic.
Simple actions like slowing down, avoiding distractions like cell phones, and following posted signs when traveling through construction areas can make a big difference.
MDOT also recommends moving into open lanes early, keeping a safe distance between vehicles, and researching routes ahead of time to avoid active work zones when possible.
