MDOT Projects are Underway
With today’s groundbreaking on the Biloxi River Bridge, the Mississippi Department of Transportation has their full with projects here on the coast. The Biloxi River Bridge Project along the I-10 interchange project in D’Iberville are two of the more prominent MDOT undertakings here on the coast.
The interchange project is meant to help traffic flow easier when entering and leaving the two interstates. The Biloxi River Bridge Project was created to replace one of the state’s most structurally deficient bridges.
While the two projects may create headaches for motorists, it’s all in the name of safety.
“You know as the population grows and the economic development that going on on that corridor”, said Tom King, MDOT Southern District Transportation Commissioner. “It’s very, very important that we make the highway safe. And that’s what we’re doing right now. We’ll continue on our overlaying projects. We’ll continue with some bridges. We’ll continue doing what we’re doing and what you’ve seen in the past. As long as we’ve got the funding, it will definitely be continued and we’ll make it safe.”
MDOT hopes to have all loops open on I-10 and I-110 by the end of April.
