MDOT Contraflow Drill Helps Prepare for Hurricane Season
When a hurricane hits and you’re forced to evacuate, the Mississippi Department of Transportation wants to make sure they’re prepared to help. That’s why they held a contraflow drill today.
MDOT created a mock command post and dispatched over 100 MDOT workers to the interstate. Workers did not actually stop traffic, but they did simulate closing and reversing lanes. MDOT workers were given assignments and instructed on where to take equipment that would be used in the case of an evacuation.
Today’s drill was meant to ensure the readiness of MDOT’s emergency response plan.
