MDOC officers arrested on contraband charges in Rankin County
RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)-Three Mississippi Department of Corrections officers are now behind bars after smuggling contraband into a Mississippi prison.
Sherry McCollum, Kiarra Michael, and Theresa Hasty are all facing charges of introducing contraband and other related charges.
The incidents happened at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Rankin County.
During searches of the officers bags, investigators found cell phone, food, alcohol, and controlled substances being brought into the facility.
In a statement, MDOC Commissioner Burl Cain says introducing contraband to correctional facilities is not and will not be tolerated.
