MDMR issues Salvinia alert on Pascagoula River

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WXXV)- The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is issuing an alert on salvinia on the Pascagoula River.

Salvinia is an invasive plant that is now covering areas of the river that were previously clear, this coming as winds move the plant into the sound.

Marine resources teams have been treating a large amount of the plants and completed a survey to assess the scope of the issue.
