MDMR calling anglers for survey

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is undertaking a pilot study to gain more accurate information on the state’s recreational fishing effort.

Everyone is encouraged to participate and can expect phone calls as early as this week.

Calls will come from a ‘985’ area code and the caller ID may be labeled as ‘South Central Planning.’

Saltwater license holders will be contacted by phone and email.

Anglers and for-hire captains will be asked about fishing trips completed in the state during the prior week, with fewer than 10 questions being asked.
