MDMR accepting financial assistance applications for those impacted by 2019 spillway opening

GULF COAST, Miss. (WXXV)- The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is opening applications for a program for those impacted by the 2019 opening of the Bonnet Carre Spillway.

The application period starts Friday, May 2 at 8 a.m. Those who apply must be a Mississippi resident who is 18 or older and also possesses a valid resident commercial shrimp or on-bottom oyster fishing license for the years of 2019 or 2020.

DMR will verify the license through trip tickets.

Businesses can also apply, but must be in Mississippi as well as be registered and in good standing with the Office of the Secretary of State.
