McMillan family sees body camera footage from fatal officer-involved shooting
The family of Jaheim McMillan, the 15-year-old who died in an officer-involved shooting with Gulfport police in October, has seen the body camera footage taken the day he died.
Commissioner Sean Tindell says McMillan’s mother, grandmother, and the family attorney saw the footage of the events as they unfolded now that the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has completed its report.
That report has been turned over to the state attorney general to decide the next steps.
Tindell says the video eventually will be released to the public as part of the transparency mission of the department.
He told us: “Obviously, this is a tragedy, especially with the loss of a young life. It’s important that the family know the facts and that nothing is left to conjecture.”
