MBI makes multiple arrests in 2023 Jackson State University homicide

JACKSON, Miss., – The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has arrested four people in connection with the homicide that occurred at Jackson State University on October 15, 2023.
Initially, local law enforcement responded to reports of a shooting at University Pointe Apartments. Upon arrival, they discovered Jaylen Burns suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Burns was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. MBI was later requested to take over the investigation on November 9, 2023.
MBI has worked with multiple local and federal law enforcement agencies and witnesses to lead to the arrest of the following individuals:
- 23-year-old, Elisha Brown, Accessory after the Fact, Hindering Prosecution
- 23-year-old, Jamison Kelly, Jr., Accessory after the Fact
- 24-year-old, Marquis Scales, Murder
- 21-year-old, Ziqua Amos, Murder
The U.S. Marshals Service assisted MBI in locating and arresting the individuals connected to this case.
