In Greene County, the Sheriff’s Office was involved in a pursuit when a deputy was struck by the suspect’s vehicle and received non-life threatening injuries.

As the pursuit continued, the suspect’s vehicle veered off the road and stopped. The suspect then left the vehicle with a weapon and deputies fired on the suspect, when then surrendered to deputies.

In Meridian, Police were escorting a suspect to a court hearing when the suspect secured a weaon and shot an officer, a second officer fired, striking the suspect. Both the officer and suspect received non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a local hospital.

MBI is currently assessing these critical incidents and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
