MBI investigating officer-involved shooting in Vicksburg

JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving the Vicksburg Police Department that occurred on December 4th, 2024, near a residence on Bazinsky Drive in Vicksburg.

Officers with the Vicksburg Police Department were attempting to serve a warrant at a residence in Vicksburg.

Upon arrival, officers encountered the subject, the subject displayed a firearm towards the officers. The officers then discharged their firearms striking the subject.

The subject was taken to a local hospital with serious injury. The involved officers did not receive any serious physical injuries.

This information is preliminary and subject to change. MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence.

Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
