MBI investigating officer-involved shooting in Ridgeland

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving the Ridgeland Police Department that occurred on December 31st,
2024, near 1000 Highland Colony Parkway.

Officers with the Ridgeland Police Department were conducting surveillance on a vehicle. An officer attempted to approach the vehicle, when the driver of the vehicle drove towards an officer.

The officer discharged his weapon, striking the subject. The subject then led officers on a brief pursuit on Interstate-220 before the vehicle came to a stop. The subject received non-life-threatening injuries.

The officer also involved received non-life-threatening injuries.

This information is preliminary and subject to change.

MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.

It is the 27th officer-involved shooting of 2024.
