UPDATE: MBI identifies subject in officer-involved shooting in Biloxi

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving the Biloxi Police Department that occurred on Saturday.

MBI spokeswoman Bailey Martin said the subject, 42-year-old Jason Martin, died as a result of his injuries

Biloxi Police were responding to a call for service on Lakeview Drive in Biloxi about 1:15 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers encountered the subject who pointed a weapon toward officers, who then discharged their weapons, striking the subject.

The subject received serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

The officers involved did not receive any serious physical injury. This information is preliminary and subject to change.

MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
