MBI Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting at Senatobia Walmart

 

 

Senatobia, Miss (WXXV)  Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving the Senatobia Police Department and the Tate County Sheriff’s Office at the Walmart on U.S. 51 in Senatobia.

According to MBI, law enforcement officers responded to a reported shoplifting incident at the store. When officers arrived, they encountered two subjects and a juvenile child who fled from the store and entered a vehicle.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but authorities say the driver drove toward the officers, nearly striking one of them. An officer then discharged their weapon, and the vehicle fled the scene.

The vehicle later arrived at a local hospital, where one juvenile child was pronounced deceased. Another individual in the vehicle sustained critical injuries. No law enforcement officers reported serious physical injuries.

MBI is currently assessing the incident and gathering evidence. Once the investigation is complete, agents will present their findings to the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.
