Mayor’s Annual Business Address

This morning, the Mayor of Gulfport’s Annual Business Address took place at Island View Casino.
Community leaders from throughout the city were in attendance as Mayor Billy Hewes discussed several topics, including significant events of the past year and the future projects that the city already has in the works.
Hewes spoke about turning the Gulf Coast into a destination, starting with his city. He challenged each citizen to become an ambassador for Gulfport as 2017 brings bigger and better things to the Coast. “These things don’t happen by accident. We’re very blessed with some fantastic leadership from our directors. Our employees understand what our mission is. We try to have a little fun in the process and so I think it comes through that we’re enjoying what we do, but we understand that there is a lot to Gulfport. We just try to all work together to make it happen and it seems to be working,” said Mayor Hewes.
Mayor Hewes tells News 25 that in the future Coast residents can expect residential, retail, and commercial growth in Gulfport.
