‘Matt Haley for Harrison County Sheriff’ Kickoff Campaign

Captain Matt Haley has officially kicked off his campaign for Harrison County sheriff.

Dozens of people showed up to the White Barn in Saucier to show their support for Matt Haley, who is running for sheriff.

A box was set up at the front of the barn for people to donate to the campaign. Haley had his retirement ceremony as captain this week while this upcoming Tuesday will be his last day. Then, he will campaign.

He says the sheriff’s office is running so well right now that he just wants to continue to make it better. “I’m a firm believer in ‘if it’s not broke, don’t fix it.’ There are some things I’m going to make better, in my opinion. I believe I will stand out above any other candidate. There’s not another candidate that has started their career at the Sheriff’s Office and stuck with it all the way through until the end. I’m 26 and a half years at the Sheriff’s Office, I’ve been through four sheriffs, and that’s a big deal. There’s not any division that I have not worked in and been a part of since I’ve been there. That’s experience that speaks for itself.”

Louis Elias has also announced he will be running for Harrison County sheriff this year.
