Match up reveal for Hoopsfest 2018
The wait is over for the much anticipated match-up schedule for Hoopfest 2018.
Local high school basketball coaches whose teams made the cut for the tournament gathered at the Coast Coliseum today to hear the announcement.
Turns out Moss Point and West Harrison will play against each other to start off the January 27th tournament. Next game will be D’Iberville versus Pass Christian High. Picayune will then take on St. Martin, following that it’s Pascagoula against Bay High.
The next two games in order are Gulfport against Ocean Springs and Harrison Central taking on Laurel High School.
The final matchup is Biloxi High School’s undefeated basketball team against Meridian High. Biloxi Basketball Coach Seber Windham said, “It’s the one event where all the Gulf Coast teams are playing in one event. With that being said, you don’t really have to get the kids up, they’re always excited. They’re ready to play and for me as a head coach it all prepares you if you can get a chance to go play in the state tournament in Jackson, playing in a big venue like this so it kind of prepares you for what’s later on.”
The annual slam dunk competition won’t be part of this year’s Hoopsfest but the tournament will still have a three point contest. Hoopsfest 2018 will be at the Coast Coliseum starting January 27th. Advance tickets can be purchased online.
