Massachusetts Teens Build Wildlife Habitat on Coast

“It brings me a ton of joy. I love like helping the people and seeing how happy they are. This year is really fun though I’ve never done anything like this. And I really like the building,” said 17-year old Anna Gebski.

Over 70 plus teenagers from Massachusetts have decided to make the trek to Mississippi for an annual missing trip to give back to the community with several projects happening at once. and one of those projects is here behind me with a flying encampment for owls with Woodside Wildlife Recovery center.

The flight encampment will assist owls and other birds rehab under the care of Woodside Wildlife Recovery in Harrison County. The mission trip here since Sunday has helped rebuild and repair structures for locals and non-profits. The mission under Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Holliston, Massachusetts has been active since 2006 to help teens experience service outside of their local area.

“It’s a really great opportunity for the kids to get out and you know directly impact and you know, touch touch people and live the way Jesus lived,” said Chaperone Todd Gebski.

“We’re just working on putting up panels to make like the walls. Some of us are like on the ground doing the lower parts and others are on the top doing like the higher part. It’s all worth it on site like get up tomorrow, tomorrow and like look at all we’ve done it’s all worth it,” said Claire Fitzgerald.

“There’s all so many like, things that like we’re all like taking away different things. We’re all learning different things. We have so many different, like new skills that we’re all learning, which is really cool because we can like bring it back home. Like you need help in the yard like mom says you need help with something and you’re like right on it. You know how to do it because we learned it all here,” said Christina Harrahy.

The teens will leave back for Massachusetts on Friday. Reporting where you live in Harrison County Austin Lindsey WXXV News 25.
