Mary Mahoney’s celebrates 60 years on the Coast

An iconic Coast restaurant is celebrating 60 years of service today.

Mary Mahoney’s first opened its doors on May 7th, 1964 in the Old French House. The building was built as a home in 1737 and remained a residence until it was purchased in 1962 by Mary Mahoney and her husband.

Not only is Mary Mahoney’s celebrating 60 years today, the business is also remembering those employees who are no longer with us.

Co-Owner Bobby Mahoney talked with us today about all the people across the years that have helped make the restaurant the institution it is now. “How fortunate we are to be here 60 years, you know, blessed. The customers is key. You’re just as good as your employees. I could name about 15 or 20 waiters that have worked here that are no longer. As you reflect on how good they were, and how we miss them.”

One of the restaurant fan favorites is the Queen Ixolib platter. It’s a lightly seasoned fish fillet generously stuffed with shrimp and crab meat.
