Mary C. hosting ‘Tea Talk’ event to connect artists with community
The Mary C. in Ocean Springs welcomed the community to their Tea Talk art reception.
Tea Talk is just that. Visitors drink tea while talking with the artists whose work is now on display.
The featured artists are Oliver Preus and Brent Funderburk. Preus’ exhibit ‘Capturing a Story’ is in the Local Creative’s Gallery and his photos take spectators alongside him on his travels across the U.S.
Funderburk’s ‘Flowering Earth’ exhibit is in the Duckett Gallery and features whimsical pieces using watercolors, acrylic, and charcoal. Funderburk said, “A lot of things I did during the pandemic. It was a creative time. I stopped doing what I was doing and starting doing new things. So, I drew the local nature around me and from memory I worked on images of the west. So, you’re going to see a combination of local nature and colors of the west.”
Preus said, “It’s a mixture of photography. Mostly of digital and film photography, but I also have some elements of writing and it shows the adventures I’ve had and moments I’ve tried to capture.”
If you would like to see the art exhibits, the Mary C. is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
