Marlinspike II exercise
Thirty-one federal and state agencies took part in the Mississippi National Guard Marlinspike II this afternoon.
This exercise is designed to integrate, task and deploy composite interagency teams in response to weapons of mass destruction threats.
Lt. Col. Anthony Smith explains how this exercise helps keep them prepared for emergencies. “The biggest key that it brings to the table is that it lets us cross talk and understand each other’s capabilities, that way if a real world event happens, we show up on the spot and we already know what each other’s capabilities are which allows us to resolve an issue quicker rather than later.”
The overall event was controlled by the incident command post at the Combat Readiness Training Center Battlefield Airmen Center. They also exercise their interagency coordination communication systems in preparation for any Gulf Coast disaster that the Guard may assist with.
