Mark Dunston Named as New Ocean Springs Police Chief
The board held a special meeting for city leaders to discuss the candidates. There was some divide among board members between two candidates, but they ultimately turned to a familiar face in Interim Chief Dunston. Ocean Springs has been searching for a new chief of police since their previous chief retired in January.
Dunston says, “I’m very grateful that’s it’s over and I want to tell you that the command staff at the Ocean Springs Police Department, they’re tops, they’re the best, and we’re going to continue providing great service to the city.”
Mayor of Ocean Springs, Connie Moran, says, “I think we’ve got a gem and he will be tasked of course to working with his captains and also receiving from the board a list of improvements that we would like to see made in the next six months.”
Dunston has been in law enforcement for over 30 years.
