Mark Baker running for attorney general
After the election in November, Mississippi will have a new attorney general for the first time in 16 years. Current Attorney General Jim Hood is running for governor this year.
Four candidates are running for attorney general, three are Republicans and one is a Democrat.
News 25 spoke with Mark Baker who is running for the attorney general position as a conservative Republican.
Baker calls himself a ‘true conservative’ and supports issues like the fetal heartbeat abortion ban and securing the southern border. “I feel like we need to refocus this office on interdiction of crime and I believe that we need to support President Trump in his effort to build the wall and to stop illegal immigration and illegal drugs that are coming in this country.”
Baker is currently in his fourth term in the state legislature.
