Mardi Gras Parade Recap
Crews are picking up thousands of Mardi Gras beads and taking down barricades in Pass Christian following the day parade on Sunday. Over 30,000 people attended which is much smaller than previous years.
There was an increase of law enforcement presence including agencies in Moss Point, Wiggins, Gulfport, state troopers, and a helicopter from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department.
Pass Christian Police Chief Tim Hendricks tells News 25 the increase in patrol definitely added to the success of the annual Mardi Gras Parade. “We kind of hold our breath I guess a little bit pre-parade and we exhale when it gets over and we find out that we didn’t have any major issues so it was a nice thing.”
The police department made eight arrests during the parade with charges ranging from DUI, disorderly conduct, and possession of beer under the age of 21.
