Mardi Gras Museum opens for ‘Cruisin’ the Coast’

The long-awaited Mardi Gras Museum in downtown Biloxi has opened their doors today for a soft opening.

They wanted to open today for Biloxi’s Block Party which ended at 3 p.m.

The museum is filled with dozens of costumes and crowns, a movie room displaying Mardi Gras videos, and historical facts on the walls about our Gulf Coast carnival season.

This museum has been in the works in downtown Biloxi since 2018. This soft opening comes after a lot of hard work and planning.

It gives the museum a chance to share the Mardi Gras culture with Cruisin’ visitors and residents.  Mardi Gras Museum Board of Directors President Andi Oustalet said, “We want to teach our visitors because a lot of people just really don’t know what it is. They don’t know what Mardi Gras is. They have never experienced it and so for them it is like a completely eye-opening wow factor when they walk through the door and that’s really what we want. We want people to walk in and think ‘oh my goodness I have never seen anything like this’ and then we can teach them a little bit about our history and our culture.”

The official opening of the Mardi Gras Museum is set for November 14th.
