Marcus Davenport battles through injured thumb
Marcus Davenport was a full participant on day one of mini-camp despite battling through a thumb injury that will require him to have surgery at the end of this week.
According to reports, the 2018 first round selection will be undergoing the knife to repair a ligament and will be in a cast for about three weeks.
Even with both hands taped up during today’s session, his teammates are optimistic about his return. Saints Defensive Tackle Sheldon Rankins said, “Marcus is special. The traits he has, the gifts he was blessed with from the man above, a lot of people weren’t blessed with those. He’s out there every day; he hasn’t really been letting it affect him. He knows it’s something he really can’t control, so he just goes out there and practices hard. And then he knows once mini-camp is over he’ll deal with it and be ready for camp.”
Practice resumes tomorrow at 11 a.m. and wraps up at 1:20 p.m. The three day camp concludes at the same time on Thursday.
