March of Dimes

Every child born deserves to have the best start to life possible and that’s the purpose of the March of Dimes.
The March of Dimes is an international organization designed to raise funds for the cases of babies born prematurely. This morning, the organization had a breakfast to kick off their fundraising efforts in South Mississippi.
Executive Director, Marketing Director for March of Dimes Dina Ray tells News 25 that Mississippi has the highest rate of babies born prematurely in the nation. “That costs Mississippi millions and a lot of people don’t realize that. They kind of know that we have got a problem, but they tend to think it is somebody else’s problem and that it is related to poverty. This is not a problem that is related solely to poverty. That’s one reason why the research is absolutely critical.”
The next event you can take part in to help raise money is the March for Babies which will take place April 21st at Point Cadet Plaza in Biloxi.
