March for Mayors donation event wrapping up at month’s end
With April right around the corner that mean’s Extra Table’s March for Mayors event is about to wrap up.
The event is a fundraiser to help raise donations that go to Extra Table’s food pantries.
Each city that is participating along the Coast has a specific item it is to collect with several drop-off locations. The last day to donate items is March 30th.
On April 1st, all of the goods collected will then be delivered to the Lyman Community Center in Gulfport for Mississippi’s largest food box packing party.
All food collected around the Coast will stay on the Coast, going directly to Extra Table’s partner food pantries. City of Gulfport Communications and Marketing Manager Jase Payne said, “Yeah it’s very important, you know, not only from the standpoint of what people can do to have a meal, but it is just as important to make sure that we are filling all of these different partners that help these people in need on a daily basis that they have everything that they need to help our citizens, so it’s so important.”
