Man and woman brutalized over the weekend in St. Martin
A man is behind bars after tying up and beating a man and a woman at an apartment in St. Martin.
Thirty-year-old Andrew Williams is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and kidnapping as well as one count of motor vehicle taking. The assault took place early Saturday morning at the male victim’s apartment in Bridgewater Park. The suspect made both victims take their clothes off. He then tied them up and beat them for several hours before the male victim was able to escape.
The suspect then fled in the male victim’s car, but was found at a gas station and arrested Sunday. Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell said, “What little information we have on this right now is that they had some knowledge of each other. At one time we think they may have even been roommates. We haven’t totally verified that, but there is some indications that they were roommates. He received some lacerations to his head, throughout his entire body. He was brutalized. They both were. We don’t know the exact extent of those injuries right now, although they’re very serious and of course he is still in the hospital. We are keeping a close eye on that as well.”
Sheriff Ezell tells News 25 the woman has been released from the hospital. He also says she seems to have no connection with the suspect and was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.
