Man threatens to jump from window at Comfort Inn in Moss Point
Around 4 this morning, Moss Point officers were called to the Comfort Inn on Highway 63 to check on a disturbance.
A man had broken through the glass on the third story floor window and threw the contents of the room out on the ground.
Law enforcement believes the man was under influence of narcotics or had mental health issues. Law enforcement talked to him for a few hours to try to diffuse the situation.
The Moss Point Fire Department, police department, Pascagoula police, and negotiators from the FBI worked together to diffuse the situation.
Private citizens also assisted in helping by talking to the man to calm him down. Moss Point Deputy Police Chief Jim Roe said, “I got here about six this morning, talked with him a little bit and was finally able to, with the help of the fire department, climb the ladder and I was able to let him talk him into letting me get in the room with him, talked him down. We were able to get him into the hospital with no injuries and nothing else.”
As of now no charges have been filed.
