Man Shot During Domestic Dispute

What started out as a domestic dispute between a mother and her son ended when a friend tried to intervene but was shot in the process.
The shooter is 30-year-old Tyler Keys. His friend is 40-year-old William Paulk. Paulk was attempting to break up the mother and son argument when Keys shot him in the right thigh. Paulk fled to a car dealership next door and called 9-1-1 around 11:30 this morning. He was taken to Singing River Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. Keys was arrested on the scene.
Paul Bryant, owner of the car dealership, tells News 25 Keys was a trouble maker and he’s not surprised this happened. He said he’s just glad it wasn’t any worse. “A stray bullet could have hit somebody over here, a customer or my employees. There’s no tolerance for it. I’m not happy about the situation and it’s just something hopefully they can get straightened out before somebody is more than just injured in the leg.”
Keys is currently at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center. He has been charged with aggravated assault. His bond has not yet been set.
