Man sentenced for robbery and assault
Twenty-four year-old Gulfport native Marces Rush has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for two robberies and an aggravated assault in 2016.
The first robbery occurred in December of that year where Rush reportedly stole a Texaco store clerk’s personal property after striking him multiple times over the head with a laptop computer.
Rush is also connected to another robbery that occurred approximately 12 hours later at a Dollar General on Canal Road.
Detectives determined Rush held the clerk at knife point and demanded money then grabbed the register til. Rush then was struck with a baseball bat by a Good Samaritan as he was exiting the store. He stabbed the victim multiple times in the stomach.
Rush will spend 23 years behind bars.
