Man killed in Stone County Crash Identified

On 2-23-2017, The Mississippi Highway Patrol investigated a two-vehicle crash in Stone County that occurred on Highway 49 northbound, south of India Road, at approximately 12:00pm.

Upon arriving it appeared Alejandro Pena, 38 year old white male of Long Beach, was traveling north bound in a grey 2013 Chevrolet Sonic. Pena crashed into the back of a white 2013 Chevrolet Silverado that was a part of a construction project on Highway 49, being conducted by J L McCool Contractors Inc. The driver of the Silverado was James McCool, 32 year old white male of Moss Point, MS.

Pena was taken to Forrest General in Hattiesburg by life flight where he was pronounced dead as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash. Two passengers in the Sonic were transported to Forrest General as well with minor injuries. The driver of the Silverado was uninjured in the crash.
