Man killed in police chase that ended in Jackson County this morning
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department has identified the man killed in a multi-state police pursuit that ended in Jackson County this morning.
According to Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell, police in Mobile, Alabama began pursuing 61-year-old Christopher Palmer through Downtown Mobile. Palmer eventually crossed the state line into Jackson County.
While on Highway 614 in the county, Palmer’s vehicle crashed into a ditch and caught on fire. As officers approached the car, Palmer showed a gun, preventing officers from helping him out of the car, and he died on the scene.
Highway 614 was closed for a time as a result of the chase, but has since reopened in both directions.
