Man dead after tragic boat accident

A man is dead after he fell off of his own boat and was hit by it in the Biloxi River today.
Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove has identified that man as 77-year-old William Melton of Biloxi. Authorities were called to the part of the river near Holly Bluff Road and Spring Lane around 10 a.m.
Officials say the man somehow fell off of his boat and attempted to swim to shore when he was hit by the boat which was still running.
Police tell News 25 a kill switch, would have shut the boat off in this case, was not attached to his life jacket.
Wildlife and Fisheries, the Department of Marine Resources, Biloxi police and fire all responded to the scene.
