Man in custody following standoff in Hurley
A nearly eight-hour standoff has come to an end in Jackson County. According to Sheriff Mike Ezell, deputies had to forcibly remove 50-year-old Joseph Carroll from a Hurley home.
Police arrived on scene at 8 a.m. on Joe Rubino Drive to find Carroll barricaded inside of a home. The sheriff says Carroll fired shots outside and waved the gun at deputies before shooting inside the house.
Negotiations broke down and officers went inside the house to take Carroll into custody.
Carroll is charged with domestic violence and was taken to the Jackson County Jail.
