Man convicted of charges in Wiggins church vandalism

WIGGINS, Miss. (WXXV)- A federal jury has convicted a man of vandalizing and setting fire to a church in Wiggins last year.

According to our media partner the Sun Herald, 36-year-old Stefan Day Rowold will be sentenced in January and faces up to life in prison.

The guilty verdict comes from two counts of arson, damaging of religious property, and use of fire to commit a felony.

In July 2024, Rowold vandalized and twice set fire to the LDS Church in Wiggins. He told investigators after his arrest that he committed the acts out of hatred towards Mormons.

Rowold also faces state charges related to this case.
