Man charged with aggravated assault in Jackson County

A St. Martin man is hospitalized after allegedly being shot by another man in the same apartment complex.

Sheriff John Ledbetter says around 8 a.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to a shots fired call at Oakridge Apartments on Gorenflo Road. They found 29-year-old Joseph Ezell with a gunshot wound to his hand.

Sheriff Ledbetter says the suspect, 66-year-old Donnie Miller, took off in a car. Deputies found the car at Big Ridge and Tucker Road and arrested Miller.

Investigators say the two men got into an argument and Miller got a gun from his car and shot Ezell.

Miller is charged with aggravated assault and is jailed in the Jackson County Adult Detention Center. He is held without bond, pending an initial court hearing.
