Man charged in 2022 Gulfport shooting
On March 6, 2024, the Gulfport Police Department arrested 31-year-old Jarvis Dante Daniels and charged him with one count of 1st Degree Murder and one count of Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling.
On August 29, 2022, at approximately 7:21 p.m., the Gulfport Police Department responded to the 3000 block of Audubon Drive in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, Officers located Kelvin Simmons deceased from multiple apparent gunshot wounds.
Through the course of the investigation, Detectives discovered Simmons was hired to mow a lawn when he was shot multiple times by an unknown suspect, later identified as Daniels. Daniels fled the scene before officers arrived.
