Man charged after allegedly stabbing woman over 50 times

On November 8, 2023, the Gulfport Police Department arrested 41-year-old Nicholas Leshaun Unger and charged him with one count of Aggravated Domestic Assault.
On November 8, 2023, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Officers responded to the 15000 block of Government Street in reference to an active assault. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with a victim who was suffering from over 50 stab wounds throughout her face and body.
Through the course of the investigation, Detectives discovered Unger came to the residence and began to physically attack the victim after a verbal argument. Unger followed the victim into the residence, grabbed a knife, and began stabbing the victim throughout her body. The victim’s daughter attempted to intervene which allowed the victim to flee to a bedroom. Unger then forced entry into the bedroom and continued to stab the victim. Unger was located on scene and taken into custody. The victim was transported to a hospital where she was listed in critical but stable condition.
Unger was processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center where he was held in lieu of his $250,000 bond, set by Judge Patano.
