Man arrested Wednesday night in connection with May drive-by shooting in Gulfport

On July 8, 2026, the Gulfport Police Department arrested 21-year-old Deshawn Marques Reed of Gulfport, Mississippi, charging him with one count of Drive-by Shooting.

On July 8, 2026, at approximately 8:55 p.m., officers with the Gulfport Police Department responded to the 14000 block of Cypress Court in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was also found to be in possession of marijuana. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

While officers were securing the scene, they encountered Reed and issued him verbal commands. Reed fled on foot, prompting officers to pursue him through several yards. A short time later, officers located Reed hiding inside a garbage can and took him into custody. Reed was also found to be in possession of marijuana. During a search of the scene, officers recovered an AR-style rifle.

Reed was transported to the Gulfport Police Department for an interview. During the investigation, Reed was also served with a felony warrant stemming from a prior drive-by shooting that occurred on May 16, 2026. Reed was subsequently transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held on a $250,000 bond and a Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) hold.
