Man arrested, victims identified after deadly altercation in Pascagoula
New details have been released on the double homicide that took place in Pascagoula on Wednesday.
Jackson County Coroner Bruce Lynd Jr. revealed the identities of the two victims as 86-year-old Harold Payne and 72-year-old Jittuan Payne.
They were both confirmed to be the suspects parents and they both died of blunt force trauma.
The homicide took place at a residence on Krebs Avenue at 3:35 p.m.
Upon arrival, police witnessed 39-year-old Darold Payne run into his home and barricade himself inside.
After attempting to negotiate with Payne for four hours, officials deployed tear gas into the home, causing Payne to surrender without further incident.
Despite the intense scene, Pascagoula Chief of Police Terry Scott gave credit to how law enforcement handled the situation.
An investigation is still ongoing and will be handled by the Pascagoula Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
