Man arrested in connection to fatal shooting in Biloxi

On Thursday May 30, 2024 around 6:43 pm, the Biloxi Communications Center received an emergency call regarding a person with a gun in the 2700 block of Fernwood Road.
While officers responded to the call for service, the Communications Center received a report of shots being fired in the area, followed by a report of a person being shot. Once on scene, officers located the victim and alleged suspect suffering from gunshot wounds.Pafford Emergency Services responded and transported the injured to an area hospital for treatment. The shooting victim later died from the injuries received.
During the course of the investigation, it is believed that the victim and alleged suspect, 58-year-old Julius Cesil Taylor Jr., had been involved in an altercation prior to the shooting. At some point during the encounter, Taylor entered his residence and retrieved a gun. A struggle later ensued, resulting in shots being fired.
While investigating the incident, Biloxi Police Investigators discovered that Taylor was a convicted felon. Arrest warrants were later obtained on Taylor for First Degree Murder and Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
On Wednesday, May 5, 2024, Taylor was arrested on the warrants and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center.
Justice Court Judge Nick Patano set Taylor’s bond at $1,050,000.00.
