Man arrested for disturbing the peace

On October 17, 2018, the Biloxi Police Department responded to the AJ Holloway Sports Complex located at 765 Wells Dr. in reference to the report of a gunshot victim.

The victim, later identified as arrested 20-year-old Jauan Markel Williams of Biloxi called 911 reporting he was sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot of the sports complex when an unknown person shot him.

Williams left the sports complex and walked to nearby Biloxi High School where he again reported he was shot by an unknown person. The Biloxi School Police and administration responded to the report of a possible man with a gun in the area by quickly locking the school down to protect students and faculty from any possible threats.

The Biloxi Police Department conducted an investigation into the incident that revealed Williams was the victim of an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. The handgun that Williams accidentally shot himself with was recovered from the interior of his vehicle. Williams was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released. Misdemeanor warrants for reporting a false crime, disturbing the peace of a public place (Biloxi High School) and being in possession of a firearm on the property of a city sports complex were issued for Williams through Biloxi Municipal Court Judge William Tisdale.

On 10/19/2018, Williams turned himself in on the warrants at the Biloxi Police Department.
